Premolar DO Pre-op radiograph showing distal cavity in 1st pre-molar.
Pre-op clinical photo.
Rubber dam was placed and a TrioDent Double-Wedge. The Double-Wedge is "flossed" into place. It serves to depress the rubber-dam and the gingival col and it also protects the inter-proximal rubber dam from bur damage.
Note how the inter-proximal rubber dam is intact and is providing a total seal. Also note the carious lesion extended around towards the palatal, creating a wide cavity.
Tab-Matrix is in place. The tab was initially bend towards the anterior while being held with the Pin-Tweezers and then it was bend over onto the second pre-molar so that it was out of the way. The white wedge shown is the New Wave-Wedge.
The V-Ring has been placed over the top of the wedge.
Here is a side view of the
same showing how the tines of the V-Ring go
Here the Pin-Tweezers have been applied to the hole in the wing of the Tab-Matrix and then it is wiggled out. It is very important to un-glue the matrix from the restoration before pulling. It the matrix won't move it is because of the bonding agent is gluing it to the restoration and the two must be separated before pulling any further.
This photo was taken immediately after the matrix was removed. Note the lack of flash.
This shows the contour of
the inter-proximal region.
Completed restoration.
